Around Fishmoor Reservoir from Queens Park

Walking Distance 3.9 Km or 2.4 miles. The time required for a reasonably fit walker to 1.5 hours.

The route starts within Queens Park

Leave Queen's Park by the south west entrance on to Queen's Road and then take the first road to the left. on to Queen’s Park Close.

Take the left hand track, before the house.  The track emerges inthe grounds of the Royal Blackburn Hospital. Turn right towards the entrance gates and turn then left onto Haslingden Road.

At the bend in the road cross over and continue along Haslingden Road.   After passing the Home the Retired within 50m take the track to the right crossing the open fields.  The track across here is not a public right of way.

At the reservoir, turn left to follow the northerly edge of the water. At the end of the reservoir by the steel box containers take the footpath through the gate and onto a track running by the side of the JJB Sports complex, to emerge onto Haslingden Rd.

Turn left and cross the entrance to the JJB Sports complex. Continue to the roundabout and take the road off to the right into Shadsworth Road.

Walk until the zebra crossing by the Leisure Centre is reached.  Cross here and along Old Bank Lane with Newfield School on the right.

Take the footpath after the school, this route eventually joins onto Queens Road and is signed here Environment Link. Cross over Queen’s Park Road and turn left towards the entrance on the right into Queens Park.
