Around Fishmoor from Guide

Walking Distance 3 Km or 1.8 miles. The time required for a reasonably fit walker is 1 hour.

The route starts at the entrance to the track adjacent to the JJB Complex Haslingden Road Guide

NB   Please note that none of this route lies on public rights of way.

Take the footpath at the left hand side of the JJB sports Complex. At the bottom of the hill the route goes through the gate on the left.  Immediately after the gate take the path to the right to go around the reservoir in an anticlockwise direction.

The route passes a large circular water intake and continues around passing a housing estate on the right.  At the reservoir overflow providing the water is low, access can be made across the reservoir bottom.  If the reservoir is full then you may have to get your feet wet or retrace your steps.

The route continues on the reservoir embankment access road, passing the water treatment works. Finally the route returns to the slipway and the locked gate.  Follow the track back up the hill to Haslingden Road.

An alternative route exists by turning right at the slip way end of the reservoir and continuing along the access track toward the buildings on Blackamoor Road. A set of steps can be seen on the left and these are climbed to reach the embankment of Guide Reservoir.

Follow the track running around the top of the embankment, crossing a small inlet to continue, and passing the Willows Public House and rejoin the track at the JJB Sports Complex.
