Welcome to the Ramblers Blackburn and Darwen Group

Roddlesworth Woods

Welcome to the web site of the Blackburn and Darwen Group of the Ramblers. Our group is part of the North East Lancashire area and has approx 100 members.

Most of the work done by our group is associated with footpath preservation and rights of way issues.

The Ramblers, Britain's walking charity is 75 years young in 2010.

Since it was founded in 1935, the Ramblers have campaigned, lobbied and helped step-by-step build a walking Britain.

In the past 75 years, we've helped gain 10 national parks, a 130,000 mile path network and open access land in England and Wales, and land reform in Scotland.

Celebrate with us by joining a special Baton Walk on Saturday 26th June commencing from the car park on Clitheroe Road Sabden (the car park before the Nick o Pendle from Sabden side).  This 9 mile walk starts at 11.00am and follows the route to the Beacon at top of Pendle Hill.  The Chief Executive of the Ramblers Tom Franklin will be meeting us on the top.  He is walking with the Clitheroe group who are starting off from Downham.
